Express News Service : Pune, Fri Feb 19 2010, 03:02 hrs Students from class VII to IX will be participating in the conference that will focus on arriving at simple yet effective action projects that can be implemented by common citizens, said Dr Parag Mankeekar, founder-director of Neeti Solutions, which is organising the conference.

In a unique initiative, around 475 students from 60 schools in the city will come up with their recommendations for Pune-specific environment conservation, climate change and disaster risk reduction.

The conference titled ‘Young change-makers – Pune conference’ is taking place in the city on Saturday.

Students from class VII to IX will be participating in the conference that will focus on arriving at simple yet effective action projects that can be implemented by common citizens, said Dr Parag Mankeekar, founder-director of Neeti Solutions, which is organising the conference.

He said students would be presenting their recommendations at four levels – individual, family, institutional and community.

A topic related to climate change has been assigned to six students and their mentors from each school, said a press note.

The team is expected to study the topic and its problems in detail and come up with a list of recommendations at the four levels for the same.

A paper presentation stating these recommendations will be done on the day before the conference.
